I was educated to become a Physician and practiced Ophthalmology in both Brazil and the United States until retiring in 2019. It was when I moved with my young family to the United States to establish my solo practice that I attended a semester at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts while waiting for my license to be revalidated. Painting oils on canvas board using printer's rolls as my brushes resulted in images showing multiple serendipitous effects that were elicited by my poetic thinking. They also showed the movement, rhythm, energy, and colors of my native country.
My transition into Digital Art came later as a result of searching for a medium that would provide more flexibility with form, movement, and color allowing me to craft images that evoke an immediate reaction/gut feeling which, in many cases, would prescind a title. I also like to interject humor into my art or use my paintings as chroniclers of recent events. As I look to share my works with a larger audience, I enter pieces in a variety of online and in-person juried shows and exhibits.
I am excited to share that I have had my art accepted by:
- Art Fluent
- Artistonish
- Berkeley Arts Council
- Las Laguna Art Gallery
- Museum of Art Foundation
- Red Bluff Art Gallery
- Site:Brooklyn Gallery
- The Idaherma
